Fireworks and the Fourth of July go hand in hand. Unfortunately, so do burn injuries. Over half the 9,000 people treated annually for burns do so in the weeks surrounding Independence Day. Following a few common sense precautions can help you and your family stay safe and healthy while you enjoy your holiday fun.
- Like driving and swimming, fireworks and alcohol don’t mix.
- Only use fireworks outside.
- Always have water ready when you plan to use fireworks.
- Never alter or modify fireworks.
- If you’re allowing teens to use fireworks supervise them closely.

Be safe. Be well!
