Here’s a quick tip to help as you work toward personal excellence this year.  It can help achieve personal wellness and create greater balance by helping you work more effectively toward your goals.  Here’s the tip:  Select a guiding principle for the year, and then make it one of the factors you consider in decision making. Using this wellness tool can help set appropriate goals that will bring greater fulfillment and satisfaction into your life.

In order to pick an appropriate and effective principle, first decide what you really want.  For example, if you want a vacation, what is it about the vacation that  appeals to you the most?  Is it that you really want more fun or rest?  If so then one of these two principles might be a great theme for your year.

Once you decide on your theme use it to make decisions. For example, imagine you’re thinking about getting second job to make extra money for a vacation.  Ask yourself if  the second job will  give you  the fun or rest that you really want. Maybe it will, or maybe you’ll decide you’ll be happier spending those hours doing something fun with your family right now.   Only you can decide what works best for you.

Having a guiding principle is a great tool to add to your wellness regimen.  It can help move you towards optimal health and wellbeing by making wiser choices that bring greater joy and pleasure to your life.  Manifest excellence in your life by going for what you really want!

Be well!
